Afghan Soumak

Created by Baluchi Nomads, this Collection mixes the bold and diverse style of the Baluch Collection with the robust weaving style known as Soumak weaving. This creates a rug that is both bold and sturdy, robust in construction yet incredibly soft underfoot. This adds an extra layer of warmth to the rug that is unmatched underfoot. Motifs of ancient symbols such as birds and geometrical animals delight the eye while bringing a touch of nature to any space. The ancient and complex construction technique used to make these rugs produces a flat- weave of New Zealand wool and cotton rug that is thick, strong and very durable. Another advantage of these Soumak rugs is that they are double sided and reversible.
